Festival of New American Music

Caballito Negro will be in Residence at the Festival of New American Music, held at the School of Music at Sacramento State University – my alma mater! I’m excited to perform there and visit the school!

We will give an in-class performance at Sac State on Friday morning, November 6 and a percussion workshop with Dan Kennedy and his students at noon. Thanks Dan and to Yamaha, Zildjian, Vic Firth, and Remo for sponsoring my workshop there!

The Opening Gala performance in the CSUS Music Recital Hall on Friday, November 6, 2015 will feature Caballito Negro’s performances of:

  • Encounters XVI – William Kraft
  • “Ububele” from Music for South Africa – David P. Jones
  • This Is Like Jazz! – Ivan Trevino (world premiere)

A full concert by Caballito Negro will be presented the following night (Saturday, November 7, at 8pm and will feature the following:

  • Encounters XVI – William Kraft
  • Braided River Nights – Howard Hersh
  • Music for South Africa – David P. Jones
  • The Metaphysics of Notation – Mark Applebaum
  • This Is Like Jazz! – Ivan Trevino
  • That Which Colors the Soul – Tessa Brinckman & Terry Longshore (world premiere)
